Lush Haul

Two weekends ago we all went upstate for my brother in laws graduation. On the way back we stopped by a mall and I realized there was a lush store in that mall. I got really excited because I have been meaning to try lush products for a long time. I have heard so many things from beauty gurus on YouTube. I love that all of their products are hand made and natural, which means they don't contain any harmful chemicals or ingredients. I went in and the first thing that caught my eye was the massage bars. The massage bars all smell delicious but one in particular caught my attention. Its called the Mange Too massage bar. This bar is made out of fair trade cocoa butter, shea butter, perfume, mango butter, white chocolate, fresh bananas, honey, peppermint oil, and vanilla. This body butter glides on to you skin and melts into it with your body heat. It leaves my skin really soft and it also smells amazing!

The other item i saw that caught my eye was a solid body tint in the color Black Stockings. I really like this body tint because its super shimmery. You can apply to your shoulders, decolletage area, legs and arms for a beautiful glow. The body tint is made out of cocoa butter, shea butter, perfume, cinnamon leaf oil, sweet orange oil and pimento berry oil.

After about a week, I ordered a few more products through their website www.lush.com . I got them in the mail today, the shipping took a little over a week to get here. I think its because all of these products are made in Canada so its take extra long to ship. I got the Soft Coeur (the honeymooner) massage bar. This massage bar smells amazing and leaves my skin very soft. Its made out of cocoa butter, shea butter, honey, cocoa powder, perfume, almond oil, glycerin, sweet orange oil and bergamot oil.

I also got a colour supplement in dark yellow. You can use this as a tinted moisturizer by mixing it with your face moisturizer and applying it to your face, or you can use it alone as a foundation. I haven't tried this yet though so I am hoping it works well for me.

The last thing i got was two tins for storing the smaller massage bar and body tint. You are suppose to keep the solid massage bars and body tints in a cool dry place so that they wont melt. These little tins are perfect for that.

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette

I finally have it! Ive been meaning to get this palette since Christmas time and for one reason or another i never got around to actually buying it. So the other day while I was looking through my sephora app on my iPhone. I saw that sephora was selling it again. I thought had lost my chance to get it since it's a limited edition palette. I quickly ordered it. To my surprise my order was processed and shipped within 2 days after i ordered it. Isn't that amazing?! With it I also got 3 little samples and a deluxe DiorShow mascara sample. I am so happy I finally got my hands on this palette. The shades are all so beautiful and very very pigmented. Many of you already know that urban decay eye shadows are probably some of the best eye shadows out there. I love how they mixed a lot of neutral shades along with very colorful ones to create this palette.

Starting from the left: Midnight Rodeo, Midnight 15, Vanilla, Flow and Chase

Starting from the left: Tainted, Junkshow, Omen, Evidence and Deep End

Starting from the left: Deeper, M.I.A., Ace, Blackout and Half Truth

I can't wait to create different eyeshadow looks with these. So stay tuned I will be posting them very soon.

MAC Haul

The other day I went to the mall with my husband and son. He said he wanted to get me some mothers day presents, so of course i was super excited. I mostly bought clothes from forever21. Then he said he was going to take Nicolas down to the play area and he left me alone to shop for whatever I wanted. I totally took advantage of this and bought some clothes and then since MAC was right in front of the forever21 store i bought some MAC makeup. I had never tried MAC makeup before except for a nail polish. So when i went in there, i had no idea what i wanted to get exactly. Then i saw the foundation powders and I saw the mineralized skinfinish powder and i thought i should definitely get this. Ive heard some great things about this powder from YouTube beauty gurus. I bought one, the lady in the store told me which shade would suit me better, it was the shade medium dark.

Shade: Medium Dark
Then i looked around for some concealers. I have really bad under eye circles and the concealers i have don't really work that great. They cover most of it but i always have to go back and apply more after. So i bought the studio finish concealer with SPF 35 in NW25. The lady showed me which shade would work better for me. They were both really nice and helpful.

Shade: NW 25
I went home with my new loot. The next day I used my foundation and concealer for the first time and they were amazing! I love the skinfinish powder because it is very sheer, it doesn't look cakey at all or like your wearing a ton of powder. It gives you a natural look instead. I also love that its made with minerals because that is better for your skin as a whole. The concealer worked very well at covering up my dark circles. I didn't even need to apply it a second time. My eyes looked fresh and there were no dark circles i sight. I love that the concealer has SPF 35, It was very surprising that it was so high since they usually just put an SPF of 15 or 20 in makeup. I'm glad though because sun damage is no joke, specially in your eye area. After trying these out for about 2 days I went back to the mall to get some summer shoes. I also went back to MAC, I couldn't help it. I got four eye shadows in a little compact. They are so beautiful. I got two bright color shades and two neutral shades. The shades are: idol eyes, lucky green, woodwinked and star violet. The lady's there (sale reps) were super nice and helpful.

Shades from bottom left to right: Idol Eyes, Star Violet, Lucky Green and Woodwinked

I used these eye shadows today to create this look:

For some reason this website wouldn't upload these pictures the way i had rotated them
To create this look I used the woodwinked shade from the MAC palette on my lid then I applied star violet at the end of the lid and unto my crease. I blended the crease out and then i took the shade virgin from the naked palette and put that as my highlight color. After that i used a brown eyeliner, lined my upper and lower lashes trying to keep the lines thin. I applied mascara. I also put some of the star violet on the lower half of the bottom lash line. Then to finish the look I just applied some bronzer under my cheekbones to contour and blush on the apples of my cheeks. I also used some of L'oreal's Color Riche balm in the shade plush plum. That was it, hope you all like this.

A Golden and Burnt Orange eye shadow look

I want to post the eyeshadow look I did today. I used 4 different eye shadows, an eyeliner and mascara. First I want to start by listing all of the products I used in the order in which I used them.
  • Urban Decay Naked 2 palette - Chopper
  • CoverGirl Eye Enhancers eyeshadow palette (Dazzling Metallics-119) - Burnt Orange shade
  • Urban Decay Naked palette - Naked
  • Naked 2 palette - Foxy
  • E.l.f Mineral Eye Liner - Coffee
  • Urban Decay super curling mascara - black

  1. The first thing I did was prime my eyes with too faced shadow insurance eye primer. Then I took an eyeshadow brush and applied Chopper into 3/4 of my eyelid. I left the end clean.
  2. Then I took the same brush and with the other side I applied the Burnt orange shade from the CoverGirl palette on the last 1/4 of my eyelid, at the end. I blended both colors.
  3. Using a blending brush, I put the color Naked from the Naked palette and unto my crease, blending it very well.
  4. Then I used another blending brush and used the color Foxy as my highlight color. I blended that with the crease color so that there would be a nice transition.
  5. After that I used the tip of the eyeshadow brush and applied some of the Chopper shade into my tear ducked and the bottom half of my lash line.
  6. Using the tip of a different eyeshadow brush I applied some of the burnt orange shade unto the other half of my bottom lash line.
  7. Then I took the e.l.f. mineral eye liner and lined my top eye lid and the bottom eye rim, very thinly.
  8. Finally, i applied a couple of coats of mascara on my top and bottom lashes.
To finish the look I used TheBalm blush in Frat Boy and TheBalm bronzer in Bahama Mama to contour my cheeks. On my lips i just used Fresh lip balm. I hope you all really like this look, its super easy to do.

This is the completed eyeshadow look

My Cinco de Mayo buys

This weekend was pretty fun compared to my usual weekends. I normally don't go out or drink. This weekend though I decided to celebrate cinco de Mayo by making tostadas and margaritas with my little sisters. Of course they were down for the idea and the food and drinks came out yummy. We had a good time. The next day i was still out there but before i came back home i decided to stop by CVS to get some things we needed like, toothpaste, deodorant, face cleanser, scrub, etc, of course there was a makeup sale, buy one get one half off on a few makeup brands. Revlon was one of them and so i got a Revlon Just Bitten lip stain in the color Forbidden:

and the Color Burst lip butter in the new color Candy Apple:

Both of these products are really nice and are of good quality. The Just Bitten lip stain came with a felt tip applicator for the actual stain and on the other side there is a clear lip balm. Your suppose to apply the lip stain and after its dried on your lips apply the balm over it. The color is pigmented and very pretty. The only thing is... i don't know if it's just me or if it happens to other women out there but after i used it, it made my lips tingle and it stung a little. Other then that it was nice, the color might be too dark for me personally, its a very deep red.
The Color Burst lip butter on the other hand was perfect. I really like this red on me and it feels super moisturizing on my lips and it look shiny as well. With this lip product i think that there is no need for lipstick. It glides on your lip softly, the color is pigmented and it last a while on your lips. They have tons of colors too that is why I highly recommend this product along with the other L'oreal lip butter/balms. They are seriously my new favorite lip products. I use them everyday.

Best Hair products for Curly Hair

List of products left to right: Garnier Fructis Style-curl sculping cream gel, Ojon-damage reverse instant restorative hair serum, Shea Moisture-organic coconut & hibiscus curl & style milk, Suave Professionals-captivating curls whipped cream mousse and Garnier Fructis Syle-curl calm down anti-frizz cream
Many of you know that I have very curly, frizzy and dry hair. If i did not use any of these products and let my hair naturally dry, my hair would look like a giant frizzy afro. Curly hair tends to be very dry because a curly hair strand is spiral therefore it is harder for natural oils from your scalp to come down and coat each hair strand. Curly girls like me tend to have an arsenal of products just to manage their frizzy dry hair. So far in my life i have used hundreds of hair products, all designed to give you the perfect curl; shiny, defined and bouncy. Many of these products claim to be great at what they promise but end up not delivering. Today i want to share the products I have recently discovered that make my curly hair somewhat beautiful. I want to start by saying that I use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner made for dry hair. I have also used shampoos and conditioners for curly hair also, they both usually work about the same. Now when I do my hair naturally curly I use a combination of hair styling products to get my curls to look shiny, defined and bouncy. I have never gotten the perfect curly hair style but Ive come close and so far these are products that make it happen. Before anything I wash my hair and condition it. After that i towel dry it and use the Ojon restorative hair serum. This product retails for $17 for a 0.85 fl. oz. bottle or $25 for a 1.7 flo. oz. bottle. You can get this at Ojon.com or at Sephora. This product is very oily but a little goes a long way. If you have oily hair or normal hair, i don't recommend it. It should be used on very dry hair. You can also use this product to heat style your hair because it also protects the hair shaft from heat tools. I use it with my flat iron to straighten my hair. I just apply it to towel dried hair, blow dry and then flat iron. It leaves my hair soft, shiny and straight.
If I'm using it to wear a curly style then i comb it through and either use the garnier fructis curl sculpting gel or the suave captivating curls mousse.
The curl sculpting gel has a runny but creamy consistency. It smells pretty good and it retails for about $4.59 for a 5.1 fl. oz. bottle. You can buy this at your local pharmacy, target or walmart. This cream gel contains fruit micro-waxes, polymers and silicone's, that are suppose to leave your curls defined and bouncy while conditioning your hair.
After I have applied this to my hair I combed it through, part my hair, scrunch it and combed it through with my finger to define the curls better. Then I just let it air dry. Usually i get a pretty soft curl with these two products. Not crunchy and hard at all.
If I use the Suave captivating curls whipped cream mousse instead of the gel, I use it after the ojon serum and basically repeat the same exact steps.

This mousse is very creamy and moisturising to my hair. It is alcohol free, it has an anti-frizz complex that helps define and hold natural curl patterns. It leaves my curls defined and shiny but it tends to leave them a little hard, which i don't mind because they still look natural. This product also smells really good, it retails for $2.74, which is awesome, very cheap and it works just as well as very expensive products. You can get this at your local pharmacy, target or wallmart.
If I don't use the first product I mentioned before: the Ojon restorative hair serum, I use the Shea Moisture organic coconut and hibiscus curl and style milk. Shea Moisture is a new line of hair products that are mostly marketed towards African American women, men and babies. The line is completely organic and it smells AMAZING! This product retails for $9.99 for a 8 fl. oz. bottle at target you can also buy this at Walgreen's pharmacy.

This style milk is a no rinse protective and styling cream. It's suppose to detangle, condition and control curls while restoring body and shine. It contains coconut oil, silk protein and neem oil. I usually apply this right after I wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner. After my hair is toweled dried. I add some to my palms, rub them together and apply it to my hair. Then I comb it through and apply mousse or cream gel. The great thing about this product is that it can also be used to heat style your hair. I use it to straighten my hair with a flat iron. I usually just apply it, blow dry my hair and then flat iron. I leaves my hair super healthy looking, and stick straight.

The last product I want to write about is a new product called Garnier Fructis Style curl calm down anti-frizz cream. I just started using this hair cream and I'm not sure how i feel about it yet. It is thick and creamy, very moisturizing and kind of heavy. I can tell that it leaves a lot of product residue in my hair. I have used it a couple of times with the mousse and cream gel. It works pretty good but I think that it might be too heavy for me to use as a styling product along with the gel or mousse. It says, that its suppose to to create perfect fizz free curls and moisturize your hair. It contains Shea butter and it retails for $3.49 for a 6.0 fl. oz. bottle at target.com, you can also buy it at target stores, your nearest pharmacy or wallmart.
These are the products that I currently use in my hair to either create a pin straight hair style or shiny defined and bouncy curls. Before I end this I want to say that even if your hair is not naturally curly, you can still use these products to create curl or to flat iron your hair. I'm sure that they will work just as good err...maybe you wont get super tight curls but you will get nice wavy shiny hair. I hope this review helps if your a curly haired girl like me that just hasn't been able to find the right combination of products to create that perfect curl or just looking to try something new.

REVIEW: COVEGIRL trublend foundation

I used the covergirl foundation today(shade: 5-460-classic tan). I wore it all day long (since 9 am and its 7:00 pm now). Before applying it I put on some pur~lisse essential daily moisturizer and a pea sized amount of the Sephora anti-shine primer. It blended out nicely but i did notice that it was a tiny bit dark for me but not enough for it to look weird. I had high hopes for this foundation. I thought it would stay matte all day or at least reduce some oiliness on my face, I was wrong. My face started feeling oily a little bit after noon and by 4 o'clock i knew i needed to get to the bathroom asap to blot it off. Needless to say, it didn't keep my face matte. Since i had to dab it off that took off some of my foundation and my 6:30 pm, the time i took that picture it looked like at least half of the foundation had worn off. It kind of looked like it just melted off my face. It's actually weird that my skin got so oily especially since i put on primer today. Maybe it was the moisturizer, it is a little oily because it has SPF 30 and those tend to be super oily. Oh and i also used some makeup forever setting powder after applying the foundation, so i pretty much did everything i could to prevent the shiny face yet, it still happened almost as if i hadn't applied anything at all. Even though today i had a bad result, i still want to try it again. Tomorrow I'll wear it again but without the oily moisturizer. I hope its better. As for the concealer; it worked fine. Nothing special or out of the ordinary. I did have to re-apply when i got home but that could have been because of how oily my skin got, it just melts away my makeup at the end of the day.
